Harmony of the Elements: Ayurvedic Bliss Massage
Step into a world of deeply rooted Ayurvedic traditions and let yourself be embraced by the calming and restorative power of the Harmony of the Elements: Ayurvedic Bliss Massage at Het Sattvahuys. This two hour Ayurvedic or Abhyanga treatment is the ultimate journey toward balance, where your energy centers are restored and your body and mind can relax in the warmth of carefully selected herbal oils and massage techniques tailored to your unique dosha type.
the treatment
The Harmony of the Elements: Ayurvedic Bliss Massage begins with warm medicinal herbal oils gently poured over your body. These organic oils, enriched with medicinal herbs (taila), are specifically tailored to your dosha, nourishing the skin and penetrating deeply into the tissues, allowing for comprehensive healing and detoxification.
The Ayurvedic or Abhyanga massage uses long, flowing, as well as crosswise strokes to bring the energy in your body into balance. As the warm oil deeply penetrates the skin, I pay special attention to the marmapoints—vital energy points in the body—that are stimulated to enhance the flow of energy. Chakra points are also attended to, with particular focus on the navel chakra, solar plexus, and heart chakra. This luxurious Ayurvedic treatment begins on the back of the body, starting with the back, arms, and legs, massaging from top to bottom. Then, the front of the body is treated, beginning with the feet and legs and massaging from bottom to top.
The belly, chest, face, and scalp are also gently massaged, something unique to Ayurvedic massages. The abdomen is the center of energy in our body, and soft, rhythmic movements help to release blockages in this area. The face and scalp receive extra care, providing a deep, almost meditative sense of relaxation. The pressure is adjusted to your dosha or imbalances, aiming to reduce tension and bring your energy into balance.
For this treatment, I use a base of organic sesame or almond oil, mixed with medicinal herbal oils (taila) from Holisan and Ayurvedic oils from Lakshmi. These are all high-quality, organic oils that respect the energetic balance of your body and nature. Read more about the effects of the oils I use.
This treatment includes a pampering ritual with a magnesium foot bath, guided meditation, the drawing of an Inner Compass card and a cup of Ayurvedic tea or sacred cacao and is a two-hour ritual.

Dosha-specific variations
Abhyanga is most suited for Vata and Pitta doshas due to its grounding and calming effects. For Kapha, it is also beneficial but with some adjustments. I take these differences into account during the treatment in the following ways:
Vata Abhyanga
Vata represents a lot of physical and mental movement, coldness, thinness, and emptiness. To balance these qualities, I offer the softest and calmest form of Abhyanga. The gentle, loving touches ground the air and ether elements. As a Vata type, you might be so used to constant stimulation and overactivity that firmer treatments initially feel better. However, the gentle, mindful, and slow movements can help release the physical restlessness, which can be incredibly liberating.

Pitta Abhyanga
Pitta stands for heat, perfectionism, rationality, ambition, and inflammation. To balance this dosha, I use milder or cooling oils—such as a blend of sesame with almond or coconut oil. A gentle touch is also essential for Pitta types. Often hard on themselves, they benefit from reconnecting with a softer experience. Pittas are also generally quite warm, so the oil is kept at body temperature, and the heating blanket is adjusted accordingly.
Once received, the recipient can contact me to schedule their massage and choose the treatment that best suits their needs. From start to finish, I ensure that their experience is relaxing, restoring, and deeply nurturing.
Kapha Abhyanga
Kapha represents calmness, sluggishness, grounding, and stability. Kaphas can also feel quite cold at times. Movement, dryness, and warmth balance this type. During the treatment, I use quicker, firmer strokes with relatively less oil. Sometimes, I choose to work from bottom to top, starting at the feet (contrary to the Vata and Pitta variations). This encourages energy to move upward—away from the ground and more towards the air.
The wellness ritual
For the best experience, I offer a delightful pampering ritual around the treatment. This ritual consists of:
- A warm welcome with a soft, luxurious bathrobe.
- A relaxing foot bath with fragrant essential oils and magnesium-rich Himalayan and Epsom salts, customized to your dosha type.
- A selection of scents and music—you can choose the essential oils that will accompany your treatment, and even the music can be adjusted to your preference. If you prefer to enjoy your treatment in silence or wish to be completely cared for, that’s perfectly fine too.
- A brief guided meditation to help release all tension and bring you fully into the present moment.
- Afterward, a moment of integration with a choice of Ayurvedic tea or warm cacao to gently awaken and end the experience on a serene note.
- A card pull from the Inner Compass deck, offering a gentle invitation to carry some wisdom or love with you for the rest of your day.
Aftercare – Nourishment for your hair
During the Ayurvedic massage, oil is poured over the scalp and face, deeply nourishing your hair. To allow the oil to absorb fully -and to avoid staining- I offer a hair wrap and Ayurvedic shampoo to take home. I recommend not planning any activities afterward, so you can enjoy the maximum benefits of the treatment. Drink plenty of water and give yourself space to relax and absorb the experience fully.
